This week, I met with fellow pastors in Mount Holly. Through our conversation, it became clear that the need for food support in our community is growing. We’ve seen this firsthand at our own church, with a noticeable increase in requests for help just last week.
In response, our church is partnering with Burge Memorial Methodist, Good Shepherd Lutheran, and First Presbyterian to meet this need together. We are actively seeking additional partners to join this effort.
We will be collecting both food and monetary donations.
Food Donations
We are creating a network of community food-sharing locations at each partner church. Our location will be a large weatherproof deck box placed next to the Little Library off Main Street, where those in need can access food.
To stock this box (and to support the CRO with any overflow), we need your help. A collection box is available in the Gathering Area at church to receive your donations.
Here are the food items we are requesting:
- Canned meat
- Canned fruits
- Canned veggies
- Rice and beans
- Peanut Butter & Jelly
- Pasta Noodles/Sauce
Monetary Donations
In addition to food, we are also receiving monetary donations. We will use these resources to purchase grocery cards to be shared with those seeking assistance, giving them the flexibility to buy fresh items.
If you wish to give to this effort, you may give online by following this link or going to the giving page on our church website. If you like to give by check, please put “Local Missions” on the memo line of the check.
How You Can Help
Thank you for considering being part of this. We will need additional help with the organization of donations. If you have time and interest in volunteering, please let me know.
Thanks for praying for our community and meeting this need as you are able. We are thankful to partner with fellow believers in this effort.
Peace,
Jeff Allen
